February 6 Ustaz Maaher Is Advised To Be Treated, The Police: Those Concerned Are Refusing And Wanting To Be In Detention
JAKARTA - The National Police stated that during the detention process on January 20, 2021, Soni Eranata or Ustaz Maaher At-Thuwailibi was sick. Because of this, investigators took him to the Kramat Jati Police Hospital, East Jakarta.
One week later or January 27, Maaher returned to detention because he had been declared healthy and had improved from his illness so far.
After that, on February 4, 2021, the prosecutor's office stated that Maaher's investigation file was complete or P21. On the same day, investigators also carried out the second phase of delegation or submitted evidence and suspects to the Prosecutor's Office.
That way, at the time of the second phase of delegation, Maaher had already become a detention at the Attorney General's Office. However, he was entrusted to the Salemba Detention Center for the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police.
"And in the process of detention, of course, the health services for all these suspects have been fulfilled properly by the Police. Because in the detention of the Criminal Investigation Unit, one doctor is assigned to check the health of all prisoners at the Police Criminal Investigation Unit," said Karo Penmas, Public Relations Division National Police Brigadier General Rusdi Hartono during a press conference at his office, South Jakarta, Wednesday, February 10.
Then, on February 6, 2021, the doctor at the Police Criminal Investigation Detention Center advised Maaher to undergo treatment again at the Police Hospital. At that time, Maaher refused the doctor's recommendation.
"But the person concerned always refused and wanted to remain at the Criminal Investigation Unit detention center and of course receive treatment from a police doctor," said Rusdi.
So that in the end, on February 8, Maaher was pronounced dead due to his illness. However, the type of Maaher's illness cannot be revealed to the public because it keeps the good name of the family.
"Of course, the most important thing for all of us is to pray that the deceased's spirit will be accepted by Allah SWT," said Rusdi.
Previously, Rusdi said, the family had known the type of illness suffered by Soni Eranata or Ustaz Maaher At-Thuwailibi, when he died at the Salemba Prison, Bareskrim Police branch.
"What is our note is that the illness suffered by Soni's (Maaher) brother was known to his family," he said.
Rusdi explained that the certainty of the family knowing the type of disease was a statement from the family regarding the medical history of the late Maaher.
"Namely, with a statement letter from the family that the family knew about Soni's illness, which was signed by the deceased's wife," said Rusdi.
Therefore, Rusdi appealed to the public not to speculate about the death of Maaher at the Bareskrim Detention Center. The reason is, he was declared dead due to illness.
"That the illness suffered by the deceased was known to the family. And it can be explained here that the death of the deceased was purely caused by illness," said Rusdi.
