Muhammadiyah Sets The Beginning Of Fasting In 2021 To Fall On April 13, Eid Al-Fitr Day May 13
JAKARTA - Muhammadiyah set the beginning of the fast in 2021 to fall on April 13, referring to the results of astronomical calculations (hisab) which were guided by the Tarjih Council and the Muhammadiyah Central Leadership Tajdid.
"1 Ramadan 1442 H falls on Tuesday Wage, 13 April 2021 AD," said Chairman of the Muhamamdiyah Central Executive, Haedar Nashir, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, February 10.
Based on the results of the reckoning, on April 12 evening after sunset, the position of the new moon (hilal) in Yogyakarta was seen with an altitude above the horizon of 3 degrees 44 minutes 38 seconds. Hilal will also appear in many places in Indonesia.
Calculation of reckoning is an accurate calculation, one of which is used to map the position of the sun and moon.
Muhammadiyah has the habit of setting the first time of fasting long before the government through the Ministry of Religion holds the Early Ramadan Session every year.
Muhammadiyah based the determination of 1 Ramadan using reckoning, while the Ministry of Religion uses reckoning combined with seeing the new moon (rukyatul hilal).
From the trend of several Isbat sessions, the new moon will usually be monitored by perukyat if the new moon is above the horizon as high as at least 2 degrees after sunset.
With the altitude angle of the hilal calculated at 3 degrees, it is possible that Muslims will start fasting at the same time.
Meanwhile, the Tarjih Council and the Muhammadiyah Central Leadership Tajdid also set the Eid Al-Fitr Day 1 Syawal 1442 Hijriyah / 2021 AD to fall on Thursday, May 13.
The height of the new moon at sunset in Yogyakarta on May 12 is at an altitude of 5 degrees 30 minutes 58 seconds.
