Failed To Be Prabowo's Vice Presidential Candidate, Erick Thohir Pamer Achievements 4 Years As Minister Of SOEs

JAKARTA - SOE Minister Erick Thohir was predicted to be a vice presidential candidate (cawapres) who has high electability to accompany Prabowo Subianto.

However, it failed along with the election of Gibran Rakabuming Raka to accompany him in the 2024 presidential election contestation.

Despite failing to run in the 2024 presidential election, Erick Thohir did not care.

In the midst of the issue of failing to advance to become a vice presidential candidate for Prabowo Subianto, Erick actually revealed the results of his four years as Minister of SOEs.

Through his official Instagram account @erickthohir, he said, for four years he had carried out a comprehensive transformation at the Ministry of SOEs and state-owned companies. The results, he said, had made positive achievements and contributions.

"Starting from efforts to transform governance at the Ministry of SOEs to strengthen world-class corporate DNA at the Ministry of SOEs and SOEs, running the BUMN Clean-Clean Movement to produce results of an even more encouraging increase in SOE performance," he wrote, quoted Monday, October 23.

According to Erick, transformation is a must to make SOEs healthier, more resilient, professional, competitive and world-class. This is important because SOEs are the bulwark of the economy and the locomotive of progress.

"So that SOEs can be more optimal in serving the community, becoming market balancers, providing social impacts and producing income for the state," he said.

Erick said, this transformation will continue to support the realization of Advanced Indonesia as the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Ma'ruf Amin who are entering the age of four years of leadership.

Previously reported, the latest survey results from Indonesian Political Indicators showed that SOE Minister Erick Thohir was able to increase the voice of public support for Prabowo Subianto's presidential candidate.

The survey noted that if Prabowo Subianto was duet with Erick Thohir, he would achieve the highest support of 38.8 percent, followed by the Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD pair with 32.6 percent, and Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar with 21.2 percent.

"In the simulation of three couples, the Prabowo-Erick duo is superior to Anies-Muhaimin or Ganjar-Mahfud," said Executive Director of Indonesian Political Indicators Burhanuddin Muhtadi when presenting the survey results quoted from Antara, Friday, October 20.
