Puan Maharani Talks 'Brother Who's Not Together Again'

SURABAYA - Chairman of the PDI-P (PDIP) DPP and Chairman of the DPR, Puan Maharani, spoke about relatives who are no longer together in connection with the 2024 presidential election.

Even so, Puan emphasized that this did not discourage PDIP in winning the Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD pair.

This was conveyed by Puan while leading the consolidation of Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD volunteers throughout East Java which was held at Grand City Surabaya, East Java, Saturday, October 21.

Apart from Puan, the Chairperson of the East Java PDI-P DPD, Said Abdullah and the Chair of the East Java PDIP Regional Winning Team (TDP), Budi Sulistyono or familiarly called Kanang.

"In 2023 I say by borrowing the term Bung Karno is 'Dangerous' or 'Vivere Pericolosso'. Why? Because this year is the year in which the Indonesian people will be tested for solidity and the spirit of national brotherhood in facing political years," said Puan.

Puan then mentioned about the 'brother' who now doesn't seem to want to be with PDIP anymore. In fact, according to him, the 'brother' in question is part of the PDIP family.

"We usually think hard, is it a political situation like this? Are we friends who have been with us all this time, brothers who have been with us, families who have been with us, how come we can't be with us anymore?! " said Puan.

The chairman of the PDIP Winning Team for the 2024 General Election then said that he himself is still wondering if the current political situation is only a framing in the media. Puan admitted that at first she still believed the 'brother' she actually meant was still with PDIP.

"But then our thoughts say, 'how come it keeps like this? Yes, isn't it (changing)? It turns out yes," he said.

Even so, Puan said PDIP would remain solid even though the 'brother' decided to leave PDIP, which had been his home. He emphasized that PDIP will still be enthusiastic about fighting for Ganjar Pranowo to become President in 2024.

"If our brothers, family, and friends are not with us, it doesn't mean we are heartbroken, we change, we are afraid. We dare to fight! Keep the spirit of winning Ganja-Mahfud, it won't change," said Puan.

"Yes, definitely won't change, won't be afraid. Afraid or not?" he continued asking the volunteers.

Simultaneously, volunteers and sympathizers who attended said they were not afraid.

"Well, here's the brother in arms for Indonesia," said Puan.

Puan understands that as a human being it is natural if sometimes there are doubts about the choices taken. Included in the choice of support for presidential and vice-presidential candidates.

"As humans, of course, we sometimes like to be confused, how come there seem to be more supporting parties over there, how come it seems that every meeting is always crowded," he said.

"As humans, we sometimes think whether if we are not supported by power, we will win? A lot of thoughts are raging on the mind. I think so too. It's humane, it's natural as an imperfect human being," continued Puan.

Even though there is an 'angry' because she sees the hardness of political dynamics, Puan states that she always calms herself by thinking clearly even though her heart is hot. Puan also asked Ganjar-Mahfud supporters to do the same.

"Our thinking must be clear that we believe in what we support, what we help, what we are fighting for is for Indonesia's future in the future. So never hesitate, never back down," he said.

"I believe East Java will win over Ganjar-Mahfud. We will never be afraid to fight and fight anything that comes against us," added Puan.

Volunteers who attended again expressed their readiness to fight to win Ganjar-Mahfud in the 2024 presidential election. Puan then praised the solidarity of the volunteers.

"This is what we work together to always unite to win what we believe. There is no need to be afraid, there is no need to hesitate, there is no need to be confused because believe this is all because Allah SWT, God willing, the universe will side with us to Indonesia, which has a better future than today," he explained.

Puan then revealed the reason why PDIP Chairman Megawati Soekarnoputri chose Ganjar-Mahfud to be promoted as a presidential and vice presidential candidate rather than the general chairman of the coalition party.

"Similarly with other Ganjar-Mahfud supporting parties, with a big spirit without imposing their will, based on the spirit of wisdom, only for the benefit of the nation and state to participate in agreeing to the Ganjar-Mahfud pair," explained Puan

Seeing Ganjar's figure, Puan assessed that the former Governor of Central Java was one of the best PDIP cadres who had held a number of strategic positions ranging from members of the legislature, to regional heads.

"Ganjar Pranowo is one of the best PDI-P cadres that we present to the nation and state because he has been tested and forged by party regeneration by Mrs. Megawati Soekarnoputri and the PDI-P," said the former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture.

As for Mahfud, PDIP together with the coalition party are said to have chosen him not because of electability considerations. According to Puan, the coalition chose Mahfud because of his capacity and integrity for the Indonesian nation.

"He I call a man of Trias Politica because he has played well with all branches of state power. His capacity, integrity and honesty and courage are needed by the Indonesian people today to become a great nation," said Puan.

Puan also considered the Ganjar-Mahfud pair to be a combination of Indonesian compounds. He said this pair is a representation of the essence of Pancasila values that synthesize national and Islamic values.

"The figures of Ganjar and Mahfud are united by Mrs. Mega and the general chairman of her supporting political parties as well as to represent the unity between the national group and the Islamic group itself," explained Puan.

Bung Karno's grandson called the birth of the Ganjar-Mahfud pair as a guide to the Indonesian nation. The Ganjar-Mahfud pair is considered similar to the role of the single dwi Bung Karno and Bung Hatta during the proclamation of Indonesian independence in the past.

"This couple also represents the aspirations of hundreds of millions of Indonesian people who miss the values of justice and legal certainty, equality, honesty and partiality to the little people," said the first woman who served as Chair of the DPR RI.

On the other hand, Puan mentioned the importance of the role of volunteers as driving Ganjar-Mahfud's victory in the 2024 presidential election. He also reminded about volunteer politics as a politics of sincerity, volunteerism, and sincerity in fighting.

Puan revealed that PDIP has formed a volunteer desk called the 2024 Presidential Election Winning Volunteer Coordination Team (TKRPP) which will fight together regardless of differences such as ethnic, religious and cultural differences.

"Alhamdulillah, currently there are more than 1300 volunteer organizations that have registered and will continue to grow. This proves that the enthusiasm of the people to support and win the Ganjar-Mahfud pair is very high," explained Puan.

To volunteers, Puan emphasized that the achievements of the Ganjar-Mahfud pair were not only about winning supporting parties or winning volunteers.

"The 2024 presidential election is about the fate of more than 270 million Indonesian people and about the future of the Pancasila state," he said.

"All of us here are merged into the same intention, join hands, ignite the fire of movement, fight together with one goal of a sovereign, just and prosperous Indonesia under the leadership of the single dwi Ganjar-Mahfud," continued Puan.
