Pop Surprise At The 2020 Grammy Awards Nominations
LOS ANGELES - The Grammy Academy officially announced the 2020 Grammy Awards nominations, Wednesday, November 20 US time on social media accounts and the Grammy Awards website. Many new names have sprung up, but not a few musicians who have been nominated are now competing again.
Wisconsin indie band Bon Iver should celebrate this announcement. They returned to the nomination after taking part in 2016 through the album 22, A Million. Now, through I, I, Bon Iver has been nominated in the categories of Record of the Year, Best Alternative Music Album and Album of the Year. Pitchfork once wrote, the album I, I produced the honesty and candor of Justin Vernon as a vocalist.
Billie Eilish and Ariana Grande may be two of the many names predicted to be nominated for the Grammys next year. They consistently release songs from the album throughout the year. Ariana with the album Thank U, Next while Billie with When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? so that their presence in the Grammy nominations should come as no surprise.
What is surprising is that Lil Nas X. Once dubbed the one hit wonder, Lil Nas X proved that album 7, which was released in June, made it worthy of a Grammy nomination. The song Old Town Road which became popular and was released in various versions (to keep the song on the music charts) was also included in album 7 which is actually just a mini album (EP).
Norman F ****** Rockwell, an album by Lana Del Rey entered the Album of the Year. Although it has never won a Grammy, this album deserves to be reckoned with as a winner. Because, Del Rey has never played about a solid album. The album, which was produced by Jack Antonoff, is a tribute to the singer to the realm of classic rock.
Meanwhile, singer and rapper Lizzo has already been nominated for the 2020 Grammy Awards. Truth Hurts is the work chosen by The Grammy Academy from among the singles that catapulted the name of the artist born in 1988. Despite the siblings of lyricist Justin and Jeremiah Raisen claiming to be involved in the initial process of writing Truth Hurts, Lizzo brushed it off via a Twitter tweet.
"There was no one in the room when I wrote Truth Hurts, except me, Ricky Reed, and my cries," wrote Lizzo. Until now, this case has not found a bright spot.
Tanya Tucker is the name that also dominates the 2020 Grammy Awards. Being the oldest among the nominees for Song of the Year, Tanya's appearance in the nominations has been her subscription since 1972. Quoted from APNews, Tanya is still surprised to find her name entered into the nomination.
"I'm very grateful I can represent the music that brought me to dance, the country where I was born. But this is the starting line for me to do different types of music and that's what I want to do," he said.
Don't underestimate the power of film soundtracks, due to the fact that Grammy supporters love to include songs for films. In the four main nominations, there is the song Sunflower chants Post Malone and Swae Lee. The song for the animated film Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse is the only nominee for them.
In addition, there is Always Remember Us This Way, which was sung by Lady Gaga for the film A Star is Born. Even though the film has been released since 2018, it seems that the Grammys still love the work by including it in this competition.
The winners of the Grammy Awards will be announced on January 26, 2020 at the Staples Center, Los Angeles. So far there have been no confirmed nominees to fill the Grammy Awards stage. Already know who will champion anyone?
