Indonesian TikTokers, Beware Of Tiktokcash Sites, They Are Blocked By Kominfo And Not Affiliated With TikTok

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Informatics has blocked the Tiktokcash site, which promises money after watching a video on the TikTok platform.

"Kominfo has blocked the tiktokecash.com site. Tiktokcash social media is also in the process of being blocked," said Ministry of Communication and Information spokesman, Dedy Permadi as reported by Antara, Wednesday, February 10.

Kominfo said the reason for the blocking was an electronic transaction that violated the law. Tiktokecash.com site can still be accessed this afternoon, site managers in a notification that appears on the main page say they have received attacks or fake news after gaining popularity.

The announcement, on behalf of Tiktokcash Asia Pacific, said it was coordinating with law enforcement on this case.

The Tiktokcash site offers users some money after watching videos on the TikTok short video platform.

The site claims to be a platform "that connects Tiktok users to the celebrity internet economy".

Before getting money, internet users must register on the site, including including a cell phone number and email address.

Tiktokcash offers membership packages such as "temporary workers" for Rp.89,000 with a validity period of eight days to "general manager" for Rp.49,999,000 valid for 365 days.

TikTok Indonesia's head of communication, Catherine Siswoyo, confirmed that the site is not affiliated with the TikTok platform.

"Recently, we learned that there is a website that uses the name TikTok and requests money from users. This website is in no way affiliated with TikTok. We will not and never ask for money from you," said Catherine.

TikTok asks their users to beware of such offers.
