Contributing To Reduce Greenhouse Gas, Alkindo Naratama Starts Construction Of Solar Panels
JAKARTA The integrated paper and chemical business issuer PT Alkindo Naratama Tbk (ALDO) carried out construction to install solar panels capable of generating 3.0333 MWp of electricity in one of its subsidiaries, namely PT Eco Paper Indonesia.
ALDO President Director, H. Sutanto said the construction of this solar panel was a manifestation of ALDO's commitment to contribute to efforts to reduce greenhouse gases, as well as support the government's program to achieve the target of using renewable energy by 23 percent by 2025.
"We hope that the solar power plant, which we have started to build, can operate by the end of 2023," he said in his official statement, Wednesday, October 18.
Sutanto conveyed that through cooperation between the Government of Japan and Indonesia, the construction of this solar panel was funded through the JCM Model Project scheme, so that the Company did not need to spend investment costs.
"The presence of solar panels not only benefits Eco Paper through renewable clean energy supplies at competitive prices, but also has a positive impact on reducing company electricity bills," he explained.
More than that, the initiative to divert part of electricity consumption to renewable energy sources is estimated to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 2,182 tCO2 per year.
According to Sutanto as a result, the Company actively contributes to the efforts of the Indonesian government to achieve the zero net emission target by 2060.

In detail, within 25 years, ALDO's steps in installing solar panels installations of 3,0333 MWp will produce 96,720 MWh of electrical energy and reduce carbon emissions by 75,906 tons of CO2, equivalent to planting 3,036,234 trees.
Sutanto said that with the presence of this solar panel, the Company will enjoy several advantages such as reduced operational costs and dependence on expensive and limited fossil energy sources.
"In the long term, the existence of this solar panel will help create energy price stability, thereby reducing the risk of fluctuations from conventional energy prices. As for the environment's sustainability angle, it is clear that the presence of this solar panel will reduce greenhouse gas emissions and its carbon footprint," concluded Sutanto.
