Condong Democrats To Khofifah Indar Become Prabowo's Vice Presidential Candidate
JAKARTA - Head of the Democratic Party's Organizational, Cadreization and Membership Development Agency (BPOKK) Herman Khaeron said his party was inclined to provide support to the Governor of East Java Khofifah Indar Parawansa among the four potential candidates for vice presidential candidate (cawapres) accompanying the General Chairperson of the Gerindra Party, Prabowo Subianto.
"Democrats themselves are more inclined to Mrs. Khofifah Indar Parawansa," Herman said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, October 17.
Because, he said, Khofifah had an adequate number of criteria to carry as a candidate for vice president.
"Because we consider the voice of East Java to be important, the representation of women, as politicians who have been involved in politics for a long time, then the journey is clear and clean as an activist in women, activists in NU. This means that all instruments are what Mrs. Khofifah's ability, credibility, capacity, integrity is adequate," he said.
Apart from Khofifah, he said, three other names that have the potential to become vice presidential candidates to accompany Prabowo Subianto are the General Chairperson of the Golkar Party DPP Airlangga Hartarto, SOE Minister Erick Thohir, and Surakarta Deputy City Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
"There are four names that of course strengthen as vice presidential candidates or candidates for Prabowo's vice president. One, Mr. Airlangga, two Mr. Erick Thohir, three Mrs. Khofifah Indar Parawansa, the fourth is Mas Gibran," said Herman.
However, he emphasized that the Democrats in principle submitted the final decision regarding the determination of the candidate for vice president to Prabowo Subianto.
"What about representatives with the current perspective of the Constitutional Court's decision? Yes, of course it is left to Pak Prabowo. Pak Prabowo will choose who, this is the commitment of the Democratic Party. Meanwhile, we also do not propose the general chairman or cadres of the Democratic Party to become vice presidential candidates," he added.
Meanwhile, he assessed that the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) which granted part of the request for a judicial review regarding the age limit for presidential and vice presidential candidates to be 40 years old or experienced as regional heads not only opened space for Gibran, but also opened space for three potential candidates for vice president Prabowo Subianto. other.
"If the Constitutional Court's decision to open up space to become prospective young people under 40 years old who have participated in the election is like the Constitutional Court's decision, yes, of course, these four are the chance for deputy Mr. Prabowo," he said.
