MotoGP Mandalika 2023 Successfully Held With Electricity Without Flickering
PT PLN (Persero) successfully supplies reliable electricity and without flickering or zero down time at the MotoGP event. During the implementation, the peak load of the Lombok electricity system reached 309 Megawatts (MW). PLN officers are also on standby 24 hours to maintain 13 venues inside the Mandalika Circuit area with a four-layer back-up system.
For your information, MotoGP will take place at the Mandalika Circuit, Central Lombok, NTB from October 13 to October 15.
Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA) President Director Priandi Satria said PLN's role in the success of international motorcycle racing events was very important.
PLN's actions in supporting international events have been proven and have even become an important note for Dorna Sports SL as the holder of the commercial rights for MotoGP motorcycles to always involve PLN in MotoGP events in Indonesia.
"Dorna Sports who asked for electricity uses PLN, because in 2022 and previously also 2021 (the World Superbike Mandalika event) had used electricity from PLN. We are very satisfied with the existence of PLN as our partner. We are very satisfied with all the assistance and all the services provided by PLN to the 2023 Indonesia GP," said Priandi in an official statement, Sunday, October 15.
Meanwhile, PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo said the success of organizing MotoGP with reliable electricity is a form of PLN's commitment to support all international events held in Indonesia.
He said, PLN had ensured the reliability of electricity supply from the readiness of power plants, transmissions, distributions, Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU), to the readiness of personnel in the motorcycle racing event full of adrenaline.
"We are very proud to be able to participate in the success of the MotoGP event for the second time which was held in Indonesia with reliable electricity and without flickering," said Darmawan.
PLN Distribution Director Adi Priyanto, who leads the electricity alert at the location, said the reliable supply during the MotoGP event was supported by the Lombok electricity system with a generating capacity of 334 MW, with a peak load of 309 MW and a power reserve of 25 MW.
With this amount, said Adi, it is enough to maintain the reliability of the electricity supply for the 2023 Mandalika MotoGP.
"In addition, in order to maintain reliability in the transmission side, during the MotoGP, PLN officers carry out patrols to ensure the transmission system is safe and there are no disturbances," said Adi.

In addition, the five SPKLUs around the Mandalika Circuit are also able to operate to meet the needs of charging electric vehicles.
"If on a normal day, this SPKLU is independent and there are no officers at the location, specifically for the implementation of MotoGP, we alert the officers. And our SPKLU is mostly used by MotoGP officials and team crews competing in MotoGP," said Adi.
