Bio Farma Has Produced 10.4 Million COVID-19 Vaccines From Sinovac
JAKARTA - PT. Bio Farma (Persero) Vaccination Spokesperson, Bambang Heriyanto, said that his party had produced 11 batches of COVID-19 vaccines from a total target of 13 batches. The vaccine uses raw materials from a pharmaceutical company from China, Sinovac, the first batch in January.
Meanwhile, on January 12, 2021, Bio Farma has also received 15 million doses of vaccine raw material with an additional 1.5 million overfills.
According to Bambang, in one batch there are around 950,000 doses, but it is hoped that from a total of 13 batches, it will be able to produce 13 million doses on February 11, 2021. If one batch consists of 950,000 vaccines, Bio Farma is currently producing 10.4 million doses
"The last update from what we have produced until February 8, yesterday there were 11 batches of 13 batches. Three of our batches have been tested and met the requirements of the National Food and Drugs Agency (BPOM)", he said, in an online discussion on Kian Meniti Vaccination, Pandemic Free Indonesia, Tuesday, February 9.
However, Bambang emphasized that the Bio Farma production vaccine is still waiting for approval for use from the National Food and Drugs Agency (BPOM), before it can be used or injected into the public.
According to him, the production process for raw materials which will arrive on February 2, 2021, will start on February 14, 2021 and is expected to be completed on March 20, 2021. He admitted that the production time is quite long.
"This is indeed a bit long, wait. Take turns because we only use one production facility", he explained.
Regarding the COVID-19 vaccination, Indonesia in early February received a shipment of 10 million vaccine raw materials plus one million overfills from Sinovac. So that a total of 11 million doses of raw materials for the manufacture of the COVID-19 vaccine were received.
The arrival of the vaccine raw materials is part of the raw materials imported from Sinovac Life Sciences Co. Ltd., China, with as many as 140 million doses in 2021. In which, the delivery will be carried out gradually until July 2021.
The delivery of raw materials for the COVID-19 vaccine has been accelerated from the previous government's target which is planned to be completed in November 2021. The shipment is the fourth phase of delivery made by Sinovac Life Sciences Co. Ltd.
