TWICE Ready To Dominate The American Market With Republic Records

JAKARTA - South Korean girl group TWICE will invade the American market through an international label. This is the result of JYP Entertainment's collaboration as TWICE's agency with Republic Records, a record label from Uncle Sam's country. After being successful in their home country and dominating the Japanese market, JYP is confident that TWICE can develop their career internationally.

Reporting from Billboard, Thursday, February 27, the partnership of the two companies is exclusive. The latest report shows their profit reached 7.2 trillion. JYP, which is home to ITZY, 2PM, GOT7, Stray Kids, and DAY6, is trying their luck internationally by making TWICE the first artist to sign this partnership.

Republic Records, as well as being the foundation of success for singers such as Ariana Grande, Drake, Lorde, and Post Malone, welcomes this collaboration openly.

"Through this strategic partnership for TWICE, we hope to present the next level of K-pop to fans around the world," said CEO Jimmy Jeong in his official statement.

Monte Lipman, founder of Republic Records said he has known JYP Entertainment founder JY Park for two decades and has seen the development of the company. This is the basic reason for this partnership.

TWICE has won the title of best girl group in South Korea and ranked first on the Billboard World Albums chart in 2017 through their first studio album, Twicetagram. Their last promotional track, Feel Special, also managed to break through the World Digital Song Sales chart at number 1.

JYP Entertainment In International Ventures

This is not the first time JYP Entertainment has landed singers under them internationally. Previously, Wonder Girls became the first girl group to be sent to America. All of this because at that time they gained immense popularity.

Wonder Girls released an album containing English versions of Korean singles. Then, they toured 20 cities in the United States and had a duet with rapper Akon in the song Like Money.

It did not stop there, the Wonder Girls were asked as Sony Ericsson's global brand ambassadors for Asia Pacific. Promotion in Asian countries was continued with their appearance at the MTV World Stage 2010 in Malaysia with Katy Perry and Tokio Hotel.

Meanwhile TWICE has just canceled the TWICELIGHTS encore concert in Seoul because of the coronavirus that is currently spreading in the country. One of its members, Mina is also still resting due to her unstable mental condition even though she had appeared at the TWICELIGHTS concert in Japan.
