President Jokowi Encourages Strengthening Pacific Family Cooperation With PM
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo encouraged the strengthening of cooperation as a Pacific family when meeting with the Prime Minister ofTEN Kausea Natano, at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC), Badung, Bali, Wednesday, October 11.The bilateral meeting was held on the sidelines of the Archipelagic and Island States (AIS) Forum Summit."Strengthening cooperation is an important thing as a Pacific family in facing common challenges," said President Jokowi as stated in a written statement received in Jakarta, Antara, Wednesday, October 11.President Jokowi emphasized that this collaboration must be based on the spirit of collaboration and mutual respect."Including territorial sovereignty and integrity that is very important to realize Indo-Pacific as a peaceful, stable, and prosperous region," he said.President Jokowi also mentioned that Indonesia also voiced the aspirations of Pacific countries in various forums, including during the chairmanship of Indonesia in ASEAN and the G20.On this occasion, President Jokowi also expressed his gratitude for the presence of the Prime Minister ofTEN at the AIS Forum Summit.President Jokowi considers that the AIS Forum Summit is an important momentum to raise solidarity between archipelagic and island countries."Thank you for your presence and the AIS Forum Summit is an important momentum to raise solidarity between archipelagic countries and island countries through concrete collaboration and inclusive cooperation," he explained.Also accompanying President Jokowi in the bilateral meeting were Minister of Environment and Forestry Siti Nurbaya, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Director General of Asia Pacific and African Ministry of Foreign Affairs Abdul Kadir Jailani, and Director of the Pacific and Oceania Ministry of Foreign Affairs Adi Dzulfuat.
