Unnes Meets Family Of Student Who Committed Suicide At Paragon Mall Semarang
SEMARANG - Semarang State University (Unnes) met with the family of NJW (20) a student from the Faculty of MIPA who was found dead at Paragon Mall, Semarang.
"Unnes expressed his condolences for the passing of NJW. The Unnes representative last night met with the deceased's family at Dr. Kariadi Hospital," said Unnes Public Relations Head Rahmat Petuguran as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, October 11.
Unnes representatives, he said, were met by the family of the deceased, represented by her mother and uncle.
A woman who was later identified as NJW was found dead in the parking lot area of Paragon Mall Semarang, Tuesday (10/10) evening, allegedly falling from the height of the mall parking lot.
"The family said that they had sincerely released the departure of the NJW. They also refused to do an autopsy. Earlier, at around 02.30 WIB in the morning, NJW's body had been brought by the family for Cilacap's burial," he said.
As a form of concern and ease the burden on the family, Unnes through the Deputy Dean for Academic and Student Affairs of the FMIPA Zaenal Abidin conveyed his assistance by handling the cost of curing corpses and delivering bodies to Cilacap.
"Information related to events and so on, is not our authority to convey. Please pray that NJW will be forgiven for his sins and accept all his good deeds," he said.
Rahmat said Unnes already has a Counseling Center under the Education and Professional Development Institute (LPPP) which provides counseling services to students.
"Concerning services are given to students, both those related to academics, career development, and personal problems," he said.
The Concelling Center, he said, had been socialized to students since students followed the orientation of academic life on campus.
Previously, the Head of the Central Semarang Police, Kompol Indra Romantika, explained that the incident was first discovered by the mall security guard. From the initial suspicion that the victim fell from the fourth floor of the parking area.
On the fourth floor of the parking area, the police found a bag belonging to the victim NJW, a resident of Ngaliyan, Semarang, identification and student card, as well as a letter containing an apology to the family.
