Ms. Rara, the Rain Shaman, Becomes an Iconic Moment in the Video Before the MotoGP Race at the Mandalika Circuit

JAKARTA - The 15th MotoGP series for the 2023 season will be held at the Mandalika Circuit, Indonesia on 13-15 October. Ahead of the race, MotoGP released a short video showing unforgettable moments from the previous season.

Interestingly, in this short 34 second video, MotoGP not only shows the natural beauty and challenges of last season's MotoGP. But there are also unique memories about the presence of the iconic rain shaman appearing in the 2022 season.

The figure of Rara Istiati Wulandari or known as Ms. Rara stole attention during the 2022 Mandalika MotoGP. She went viral because she suddenly entered the pit lane in the middle of the rain while carrying a golden bowl and reciting a spell to ward off the rain that was pouring down at that time.

Not only video clips of Rara on duty, there is also a moment where Fabio Di Giannantonio imitates Rara by carrying a bowl and reciting a spell. One of the surprising moments on the track when lightning struck a section of the Mandalika Circuit was also shown off.

"From stunning beaches, to towering peaks. Lombok is such an extreme place. Join us in Mandalika for the Indonesian GP. A force of nature," reads the video narration in English.

In the same video, MotoGP also admitted that the race at the Mandalika Circuit presented unpredictable moments

"Our journey continues to the unpredictable Mandalika," the narrative continues.

Last season was the first time MotoGP was held at the Mandalika Circuit. As the first event, this agenda was certainly successful in attracting public interest.

Surprises from nature in the form of rain that falls on race day are also a challenge in themselves. Due to the heavy rainfall after the Moto2 race, the MotoGP race had to be postponed for one hour and 15 minutes and that moment became something to remember from the Mandalika MotoGP.
