The SYL Case Is Suspected Of Being Extorted By The KPK Leadership, The National Police Chief Invites Other Institutions To Guard Case Handling
JAKARTA - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo invited institutions outside the Bhayangkara Corps to be involved in the assistance team for handling cases of alleged extortion committed by the leadership of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) against former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo or SYL.
The purpose of being involved by other institutions is to prove that the handling of cases is carried out in a transparent and professional manner.
"Please if there are institutions that want to participate in supervising. So that then the process can really provide a sense of justice," said Sigit to reporters, Saturday, October 7.
The former Kabareksrim advised investigators to be careful and careful in handling the alleged extortion case. This is because the case involves figures to institutions that are quite a public spotlight.
"Of course we advise members, because this concerns reports reported by people who are known to the public. Then also regarding institutions that are also known to the public, the handling must be careful, must be careful," he said.

As previously reported, the National Police Chief ordered the National Police Headquarters to deploy an assistance team in handling the case.
The assistance team itself will later be involved and oversee the entire investigation process.
"I asked the team from Headquarters to come down to support them," said Sigit.
Meanwhile, Polda Metro Jaya has upgraded the status of the alleged extortion case carried out by the KPK leadership to the investigation stage. The decision was based on the results of the case title.
Dengan peningkatan status itu ke penyidikan, artinya pihak kepolisian menyakini terjadinya dugaan pemerasan dalam penanganan kasus tindak pidana korupsi.
"From the results of the implementation of the case title, it is then recommended to increase the status of the investigation to the investigation stage of alleged corruption in the form of extortion," said Director of Special Criminal Investigation at the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Ade Safri Simanjuntak.
