JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has extended the period of large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) until February 22, 2021. This follows the government's decision to impose restrictions on micro-scale community activities (PPKM).

This decision is also based on data compiled by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Health Office that the spread of active cases in the capital city in the last two weeks needs to be minimized, especially ahead of the 2,572th Chinese New Year holiday in 2021.

"This extension is stipulated in the Governor's Decree (Kepgub) No. 107/2021 regarding the Extension of the Enforcement of Periods and Limitation of Outdoor Activities," Head of DKI Jakarta Health Office Widyastuti said in his statement, Monday, February 8.

Anies Baswedan told residents who are especially going to have the Chinese New Year holiday, that the number of cases increases always occurs after the long weekend. According to Anies, positive cases usually increase within one to two weeks thereafter.
