JAKARTA - A petrochemical company owned by conglomerate Prajogo Pangestu, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk (TPIA), is partnering with a leading electric car manufacturer from China, BYD. Chandra Asri ordered 53 units of electric forklifts, which is the largest number of electric forklifts in Indonesia.

"Chandra Asri Petrochemical is partnering with BYD, the world's leading electric car manufacturer, to operate 53 electric forklifts," wrote Chandra Asri's management, in an information disclosure on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), quoted by VOI, Monday, February 8.

Furthermore, Chandra Asri's management stated that the purchases that began in 2020 have now been completely completed. As a leading renewable energy company in the world, BYD is considered to continue to strive to implement green technology (green technology) and prioritize world-class environmental-based safety standards.

In 2012, BYD launched the world's first mass-produced forklift using lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries. The newest e-forklift fleet uses lithium batteries to support Chandra Asri's focus on the principles of sustainability, building a sustainable transportation system, saving operational costs, and increasing the ability to tackle climate change.

Each year, the fleet will reduce 69,445 kg of natural gas (LPG), save 165,360 liters of diesel (diesel), reduce 446,472 metric kg of carbon dioxide (Co2), and eliminate nitrogen oxide (NOx) exhaust gases.

President Director of Chandra Asri, Erwin Ciputra said, to answer the challenge of climate change, it is important to develop a sustainable transportation system and reduce vehicle emissions. He said he acknowledged the advantages and was interested in the electric vehicle technology applied by BYD.
