Inspector General Napoleon Bonaparte Has A Recorded Conversation With Tommy Sumardi While In A Detention Cell

JAKARTA - The defendant in the alleged bribery case for the removal of red notice, Inspector General Napoleon Bonaparte, admitted to having recorded conversations, including himself with Tommy Sumardi regarding the case.

Ownership of the tape began when Napoleon's lawyer, Santrawan T. Paparang, asked his client about whether there was a meeting with Tommy Sumardi on October 14, 2020.

Answering that question, Napoleon also said that there was a meeting. In fact, he even has a recording containing his conversation with Tommy Sumardi.

"Yes, there is," said Napoleon during a trial at the Corruption Court, Jakarta, Monday, February 8.

Napoleon's lawyers also asked the panel of judges for permission to listen to and see the recording. However, the public prosecutor (JPU) immediately intervened by questioning the source of the recorded evidence.

"Please give your noble permission, perhaps explain in advance how you can get the recording and all kinds. In accordance with Perma," said the prosecutor.

"The meaning of our noble question, when the decision of Perma Number 20 of 2016 is related to information or electronic support as evidence, it must be confirmed and examined first," continued the prosecutor.

Then, Napoleon's lawyer explained a little about the contents of the tape. The conversation between Napoleon and Tommy Sumardi was recorded while they were in a detention cell.

However, it was not explained in detail about the origin of the recordings. In fact, it was also not stated whether the recording was related to a case where the bribery was removed from red notice or not.

"We explain the conditions, on October 14 2020, the defendant is in detention, Tommy Sumardi is in detention, and Inspector General Prestijo is also in detention," he said.

"Coincidentally, they met at that time, and unexpectedly, the recording took place. So ask permission, to conduct an assessment, we think the public prosecutor cannot judge, so we leave it to your Majesty, because this is a fact, whether we accept it or not, we will hand it over to your Majesty, "he continued.

Until finally, it was decided that the recording was not heard in court. However, the panel of judges will listen to the recording and analyze it.
