President Jokowi Challenges The Public To Actively Convey Criticism
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo asked the public to actively participate in providing input and criticism on the government's performance. The goal is that the government continues to improve its performance.
"The public must be more active in conveying criticism of input or potential maladministration and public service providers must also continue to improve their efforts for improvements," said Jokowi during the submission of the 2020 Ombudsman report which was broadcast at the Presidential Secretariat, Monday, February 8.
Then, said Jokowi, public service is the face of the country. According to him, the state is said to be present for the people when the public services provided run prime, fast, professional and just.
"The state is said to be present if it is able to provide fast, professional and fair public services," said Jokowi.
On the other hand, he said, realizing excellent public services requires sustainable efforts. Then it requires a system transformation, requires governance, requires a change in the mindset and work culture of our bureaucracy from a culture of pleasure to be served to a culture of serving.
The government, he said, is currently doing a great job to change the bureaucratic service model that was previously rigid and stuck in procedural matters into public services that emphasize speed, innovation, and result-oriented.
Thus, it requires cooperation from all parties including participation from elements of society and supervision from the Indonesian Ombudsman. This needs to be done so that public services in the country can be of higher quality.
"It needs supervision from the Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia in the form of input, in the form of criticism and support so that public services in our country will be of higher quality," he concluded.
