Dimitar Berbatov Who Cares About Gareth Bale's Fate At Real Madrid

JAKARTA - Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale has received a lot of criticism over the last few seasons. He failed to fill the remaining void when Cristiano Ronaldo moved to Juventus in 2018. However, Dimitar Berbatov believes the Welshman can reduce his doubts.

With Eden Hazard injured, the match between Real Madrid and Manchester City in Wednesday's Champions League first leg could be the perfect opportunity for Bale to show his quality.

"I hope he plays because he obviously enjoys playing against Premier League clubs, having scored two goals in the final against Liverpool a few years ago," Berbatov said of Bale to Betfair. Launched Marca, Wednesday, February 26.

"But even though Bale scores a hat-trick every week, he will still be criticized by some Madrid fans," continued the former Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur star.

Berbatov then hopes coach Zinedine Zidane will give Bale a chance so he can prove himself. Although whatever Bale has done does not necessarily make Madridistas satisfied.

"I hope Zidane gives Bale the opportunity to show that he is still one of the best strikers in the world, but his brilliance will never be enough to silence some people."

Berbatov then commented on Madrid and City's chances when they clashed at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu. The man from Bulgaria revealed some of the key players from both teams.

"The best way for Madrid to stop City is to cut the supply line from Kevin De Bruyne to Sergio Aguero," said Berbatov.

"City's weaknesses are behind and Aymeric Laporte and Fernandinho need to keep an eye on Karim Benzema's movements.

"Luka Modric and Toni Kroos will also be key for Madrid and, if City's defensive performances are far from their best, they will be holding on to both players."
