Ketum PP Perbasi Happy National Championships And Qualification Of U-23 Basketball PON Followed By Many Participants

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Central Board of the Indonesian Basketball Association (PP Perbasi) Danny Kosasih is pleased with the implementation of the U-23 Basketball National Championship which is also a qualification for the Aceh and North Sumatra National Sports Week (PON) followed by many participants. Participation of participants exceeded the previous implementation.

"For the 5on5 sons, there are 26 teams and daughters 20 teams. For 3x3 men, 26 teams and daughters, 18 teams. This is a record, quite the highest because so far there have been 15-17 participants at most. We hope that this development can make Indonesia's basketball achievements also evenly distributed," explained Head of PP PERBASI Danny Kosasih after opening the Technical Meeting and Drawing of the U23 Basketball Championships as well as the 2024 Aceh & North PON Qualification at GBK Arena 8th Floor Senayan, Central Jakarta, in a hybrid manner, Monday 21 August.

Danny said, this National Championship is a selection to find the 10 best teams that will compete in PON. So the national championship in Bali will produce the 8 best teams in 5on5 men and women.

This is because the two hosts have already passed. Meanwhile in 3x3, they are also looking for the 10 best teams of the men and women. That way, the qualification in Yogyakarta will produce 8 teams that will later join the hosts.

"I hope that from everything in Pra PON, at least there can be seeds that we may not see, BTN can monitor. I will send a team to Bali and Jogja," he explained.

According to the schedule, the 3x3 PrePON will take place in Yogyakarta on September 21-24, 2023. Then for 5on5 it will take place in Bali on October 1-8, 2023.

Danny explained that there is no prohibition against national team players from participating in this event. Except for players who are naturalized by Perbasi.

"Because we naturalize players for the national team only, not for the regions. Unless the area naturalizes itself, it is not my responsibility. But if it is the one who naturalizes central regulation, it must get permission from the center and the center will not allow naturalized players to play in the regions," he said.

Danny hopes that the regions that pass the PON will not leave. If this happens, it will harm other regions.

"For whatever reason it's not allowed (to leave) because it's detrimental to the team that doesn't qualify and how much money they spend," he said.

When the drawing was present, representatives of the Perbasi Provincial Government witnessed the process firsthand. From DKI Jakarta, Bengkulu, Central Papua, Banten, South Kalimantan, DI Yogyakarta, South Sulawesi, NTT, and Gorontalo.

Also present was Central KONI representative Lukman Husein from the Legal Sector of PB PON KONI Pusat. He appreciated PP Perbasi for running the drawing and Technical Meeting of the U-23 National Championships Qualification PON XXI/2024 Aceh & North Sumatra smoothly both technically and non-technically.

"Bolabasket can be a model related to athlete verification because long before the Technical Meeting, they had verified athletes starting from domicile, mutations and so on. With the completion of that stage, it was clear to enter the implementation of this TM and the implementation of TM was safe," explained Lukman.
