Responding To The Issue Of 2 Axis, Gerindra: Prabowo Can't Resign As A Vice President Candidate
JAKARTA - The Gerindra Party emphasized that the general chairman Prabowo Subianto will still be nominated as a presidential candidate (candidate) in the upcoming 2024 presidential election.
This was emphasized by the Deputy Chairperson of the Gerindra Party, Habiburrokhman, in response to the issue of two axes with the discourse of the Prabowo Subianto-Ganjar Pranowo duet.
Habiburrokhman said Gerindra could not make Prabowo a vice presidential candidate. On the other hand, PDIP also does not necessarily want to make its cadres a vice presidential candidate for another coalition.
"Yes, is it possible that PDIP can nominate Mr. Ganjar as vice presidential candidate, if we are clear that Mr. Prabowo will not be possible as vice presidential candidate and it is impossible that in one coalition there will be two presidential candidates," said Habiburrokhman at the DPR building, Monday, September 25. The deputy chairman of Commission III of the DPR then brought up the closeness of Gerindra and PDIP on how to love first. It is known, in the 2009 presidential election when he became a new party in the election, Gerindra had collaborated with PDIP by pairing Megawati and Prabowo.
"Our relationship with PDIP itself is very good, yes, if it can be likened to PDIP, it's Gerindra's first love, right? When we were a new party, it was only a year old that we worked together and almost won when we won two of the three contestants. PDIP and Gerindra," said Habiburrokhman.
"In 2012, even the first love yielded results, yes, products, namely the Jokowi-Ahok pair won in the 2012 DKI Pilkada and we continue to be united until now, although in various cases we often have different choices," he added.

Habiburrokhman said that so far there have been no psychological obstacles between the two political parties. However, Prabowo could not be proposed as a vice presidential candidate for Ganjar and Gerindra also did not want to offer to PDIP on the grounds of political ethics.
"It's just a technical matter, if Pak Prabowo doesn't want to step down as a vice presidential candidate, this is the third time he has advanced and so on, it's impossible for Pak Prabowo to become a vice presidential candidate," he said.
"We just have to see how likely Mr. Ganjar is to become a vice presidential candidate. We will not urge it, we do not even dare to offer it, yes, because we are afraid that it will be considered disrespectful," added Habiburrokhman.
But what is clear, said Habiburokhman, is that Gerindra together with PDIP who carries the theme of sustainability will certainly keep the situation so that the 2024 election runs conducive, safe and friendly.
"But the important thing is that if you are both presidential candidates, it means that it is impossible from one coalition, right, we maintain a good situation, this is a common frequency because both of them want sustainability, right, so this contestation will take place in a cool, friendly, and harmonious manner," he concluded.
