Senior Democrats Reveal Why Met Moeldoko Not AHY To Ask For Disaster Donations

JAKARTA - A senior politician from the Democratic Party, Damrizal, revealed his reasons for facilitating a meeting between Democrat cadres and Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko.

Last January, South Kalimantan was hit by floods. Damrizal said that the former member of the House of Representatives of the Democratic Faction, Ihwan Datu Adam, when he was still alive, admitted to Damrizal that he wanted to provide disaster assistance on behalf of the Democrats.

Damrizal had suggested that Ihwan ask for donations from the South Kalimantan flood disaster to the General Chairman of the Democrats Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY). However, Ihwan admitted that it was difficult to meet AHY.

"They said it was very difficult to deal with him (AHY). There were a lot of poses or protocols that had to be passed," Damrizal told VOI, Sunday, February 7.

Because of that, Democratic cadres in South Kalimantan are trying to seek assistance from the government through figures who sit in government seats. The choice fell on Moeldoko. Ihwan asked Damrizal to facilitate the meeting.

Incidentally, at that time Moeldoko had a dinner agenda with former Democratic Party Treasurer Nazaruddin. At that time, Damrizal asked Moeldoko's willingness and agreed.

"So I invited the cadres to the meeting place at the hotel. Then Mr Moel was pleased to come, they discussed this and that. That's the point," said Damrizal.

However, Damrizal admitted that he did not know whether there was any discussion other than disaster relief. "What was conveyed there, I don't know and I don't need to know. For me, they come, the goal is that, assistance," he said.

Previously, AHY said, there was a movement trying to remove himself from the position of Chairman of the Democratic Party.

This movement is echoed by five figures. They consist of one active Democrat cadre, one cadre who has been inactive for 6 years, one former cadre who was dishonorably dismissed for 9 years due to corruption, one cadre who left the party 3 years ago, and one non-cadre of the Democratic Party.

AHY said, one figure who is not from the internal party is a high official in the government of President Joko Widodo. Recently, the name of the Presidential Chief of Staff, Moeldoko, appeared in line with this issue.

Responding to this issue, Moeldoko has stated that although he did meet with a number of cadres and former high-ranking Democrats, he never intended to carry out a coup within the Democratic party.

"I'm an outsider, I don't have any rights, they have rights inside. What's the deal? Nothing, 'wong' I'm an outsider," said Moeldoko.

Moeldoko admits that he also respects the founder of the Democratic party as well as the 6th President of the Republic of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

"Who am I? What am I? Just ordinary. In Democrat there is Pak SBY, there is a son, AHY, especially yesterday who was chosen by acclamation. Why should I be afraid? Why do you have to respond like that? Just so-so. the dynamics in a political party are common, "said Moeldoko.
