Hundreds Of Hotels In Bandung Suffered Losses
JAKARTA - The COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia gave a huge impact on people's lives. Besides many deaths that have been reported since the pandemic occurred last year, COVID-19 has also hit the economic sector. Many top businessmen or companies were forced to close their businesses.
In the hotel sector, for example, several well-known hotels in Jakarta have had to be sold through a number of marketplaces. For example, the Le Meridien Hotel at Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, Central Jakarta, then the Goodrich Hotel in Kemang, South Jakarta.
Apart from Jakarta, the hotel sector in Bandung is suffering losses. The Association of Indonesian Hotels and Restaurants (PHRI) West Java said the number of losses has reached hundreds.
The West Java Association of Indonesian Hotels and Restaurants Chairman, Herman Muchtar said his party was still collecting detailed data on the number of bankrupt hotels. However, according to him, there are hundreds of hotels in West Java that have gone bankrupt and are no longer operating.
"There are quite a lot (hotels that have gone bankrupt) in Bandung, I think so", said Herman quoted by Antara, Sunday, February 7.
The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) did not remain silent and wanted to find a solution related to this matter. Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Bandung City, Ema Sumarna said, his party would try to help a number of hotels to get assistance from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf).
"Although not entirely can be distributed because many do not meet the requirements, we will try to work it out", said Ema in Bandung.
According to Ema, in this case, his party will also collaborate with the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) to explain the condition of the hotel sector, especially in the city of Bandung.
Ema also cannot confirm how many hotels have gone bankrupt in Bandung. However, he believes, this figure is small compared to the total number of hotels in the capital city of West Java.
In addition, according to him, the Bandung City Government has a budget for economic recovery. The budget is allocated to a number of related agencies such as the Culture and Tourism Office, the Trade and Industry Service, the Cooperatives Office, and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises.
"If I put it together, I think the total is hundreds of billions, along with the health and economy (recovery budget)", said Ema.
