TP3 Accuses Komnas HAM Findings Regarding The Case Of Six FPI Warriors Not In Accordance With Facts

JAKARTA - The initiator of the Murder Incident Team (TP3) Abdullah Hehamahua negotiated that the findings of the National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) regarding the shooting of six Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) troops did not match the facts on the ground based on their version.

"That the findings found by Komnas HAM are factually contradictory, different from the condition of the object on the ground," Abdullah said in an online press conference, Saturday, February 6.

He claimed that TP3 had been conducting investigations related to this case. The investigation was carried out by conducting interviews with the victims' families.

From the results of the interview, this team then concluded that the FPI paramilitary involved in the shooting had a low economic background. So, it is impossible for the six people to be able to buy homemade firearms as reported by Komnas HAM.

"We interviewed in detail, both fathers, mothers, uncles, relatives, the families of victims of police killings. So the findings that we can conclude are very contradictory to what Komnas HAM found," he said.

Initiators from the Coalition for the Action to Save Indonesia (KAMI) also suspect that the results of the Komnas HAM investigation are limited and contradictory because their space is limited by the existence of a law. Thus, this institution does not have the authority to conduct investigations, but can only carry out investigations.

In addition, the results of this investigation are limited to reports to the President and law enforcement officials, which of course will not be followed up. Moreover, based on previous experience, of the dozens of Komnas HAM reports related to cases of human rights violations, only two were followed up.

So, based on this experience, TP3 wants to convey the findings of its investigations directly to President Joko Widodo.

"Therefore, we want to convey this matter directly to President Joko Widodo without intermediaries," he said.

As previously reported, Komnas HAM has completed an investigation into the shooting case involving the police and six FPI troops and it has been submitted to the President as a recommendation for handling the case.

As a result, Komnas HAM discovered the fact that there was shooting between the police and the FPI Special Army. This is obtained from the testimonies of witnesses and evidence gathered.
