JAKARTA - Hussein Abri Dongoran, a Tempo journalist, went to Syria to cover the condition of former ISIS supporters from Indonesia. Not only those in refugee camps, but some who are locked up in prison. Hussein did not forget to bring snacks from Indonesia as a diplomatic effort, he hopes he will meet Indonesian citizens there and be able to talk to them.
The story of traveling one way ticket to Syria, going through several refugee camps, and hearing the sound of several explosions became an unforgettable experience for Hussein. In fact, after some time he arrived in Indonesia, the inn he stayed in while in Syria had been destroyed.
