JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) targets the construction of the Indonesia Manufacturing Center (IMC) in Purwakarta, West Java, to be completed in June 2024.

"The construction of the IMC building, which began in December 2022, has now reached the Topping Off stage or the installation of the final part of the structure. "The establishment of IMC by the Ministry of Industry is motivated by a challenge from Mr. President Joko Widodo, that Indonesia must pay attention to machines making machine (3M) or producing its own machines," he said.

IMC is also targeted to be a forum for realizing an effective Penta-Helix collaboration, namely collaboration between all stakeholders who have an important role in the field of industrial technology development, such as universities, research institutions, both owned by the government and the private sector, business actors, communities or communities, and the government.

"This is an effort to empower the domestic industry and create jobs that are beneficial to the regional economy. The existence of IMC is also expected to further strengthen the role of the manufacturing industry in Purwakarta Regency, as well as bring in new investments that play a role in opening up more job opportunities for the community," said Agus.

The IMC development is in line with the program to increase the use of Domestic Products (P3DN) by fulfilling the Domestic Component Level (TKDN) for goods and services reaching 71.39 percent (as of September 13, 2023). This achievement includes TKDN goods/materials of up to 47.32 percent, and TKDN services of 83.46 percent.

"The hope is for IMC to continue to develop dynamically, adaptively, and innovatively into a collaborative institution and provide one-stop solution services for solving challenges in the industrial sector in terms of mastery of technology and innovating," he said.

Meanwhile, Plt. Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry Putu Juli Ardika said that the development of the IMC aims to meet several needs of the industrial sector, such as the need to develop a production scale to reach an economic scale, the need to align domestic industrial strengthening policies with regulations that apply in ministries/agencies and BUMN/BUMD, as well as the need for technology assistance, facilities, and finance for product and process innovation activities.

In addition, it is also to meet the needs of communication, socialization, and information to manage the needs of raw materials, components, and production, as well as the need to drive ecosystem growth in every industrial sector.

He added that the IMC main building is also targeted to meet the standard value of the Green Building as required by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR).

"This IMC building will also be decorated with local wisdom in the form of roster stones, cities, paving blocks, grass blocks, and Kanstin which are all characteristic and produced in Purwakarta," he concluded.
