Company Owned By Prajogo Pangestu And Total Solar Work On 554 MWH Solar Panels In Cilegon

JAKARTA - PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk continues to work with Total Solar DG to build a second solar or photovoltaic (PV) installation at the Chandra Asri petrochemical complex in Cilegon, Banten. The company, which is owned by the Prajogo Pangestu conglomerate entrusts Total Solar DG in managing solar energy.

Quoted from the information disclosure on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) website, Friday, February 5, the installation of solar panels on the roof will provide electricity to the Chandra Asri warehouse area, laboratory buildings, and charging stations for electric forklifts and can reduce CO2 emissions by up to 438 tons.

The solar panels generate an additional 554 megawatt-hours of solar power, which is equivalent to the consumption of 40 households and is capable of reducing CO2, the equivalent of planting nearly 7,000 trees.

This project follows the successful cooperation of Chandra Asri's first solar panel installation, which was built by Total Solar DG in 2019 and has been able to produce 935 megawatt-hours of energy to power the office building owned by the 3rd richest Indonesian in Cilegon.

President Director of Chandra Asri, Erwin Ciputra, said that through this collaboration, the company continues to reduce carbon emissions generated in each operational area and minimize its impact on the environment.

"As one of the leading solar energy producers in Southeast Asia, Total Solar DG can help meet our goal of prioritizing sustainability in all of our operational areas", he explained.

Meanwhile, the CEO of Total Solar Distributed Generation Southeast Asia, Gavin Adda said, with a strong and growing presence in Asia, Chandra Asri is trusted as the partner of choice for solar energy.

Total Solar DG provides solutions that meet two aspects of environmental sustainability and cost-saving goals.

"We hope to support Chandra Asri in his efforts to reduce carbon emissions over the next few decades", he said.

Chandra Asri Petrochemical is the largest integrated petrochemical company in Indonesia that produces olefins and polyolefins. The company owned by tycoon Prajogo Pangestu has been around for more than 27 years and has around 2,000 employees.

Meanwhile, Total Solar Distributed Generation (DG) SEA is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Total which is dedicated to the development of distributed solar energy solutions, including solar-powered roofs and above-ground solar panels.

Active in Asia since 2018, Total Solar DG is the largest international provider of fully integrated solar power solutions for the commercial and industrial sectors, with a project portfolio of more than 600 MW in operation and development in the region.
