Receiving A Punishment Discount, Anas Urbaningrum Was Executed To Sukamiskin Prison

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) executed the former chairman of the Democratic Party, Anas Urbaningrum, at the Sukamsikin Prison, Bandung, West Java, after the Supreme Court's Judicial Review (PK) decision.

In the PK decision, the Supreme Court sentenced Anas to eight years in prison in the case of the Hambalang National Center for Training, Education and Sports School (P3SON) project, the money laundering case, and other projects. He will serve a sentence of eight years.

"The convict will serve an eight-year prison sentence reduced while in custody and a fine of Rp. 300 million on the condition that if the fine is not paid, he will be subject to a penalty in lieu of fines in the form of imprisonment for three months," said Acting KPK spokesperson for prosecution Ali Fikri in a statement. he wrote to reporters, Friday, February 5.

In the PK decision, the former Chairman of the Democratic Party Faction in the Indonesian Parliament was required to pay replacement money of Rp. 57,592,330,580.00 and US $ 5,261,070 no later than one month after the court decision was legally binding or inkracht.

"If the property is insufficient to pay the replacement money, he will be sentenced to imprisonment for two years," said Ali.

Furthermore, Ali said, Anas Urbaningrum also received an additional penalty in the form of revocation of his right to be elected to public office for five years from the time the convict finished serving his basic sentence.

"The KPK will immediately collect both fines and replacement money from the convict as an asset recovery from corruption for revenue for the state treasury," he said.

As previously reported, the Supreme Court cut the sentence of former Democratic Party Chairperson Anas Urbaningrum from 14 years in prison to eight years in the Hambalang case.

"Sentenced Anas Urbaningrum to imprisonment for 8 years plus a fine of Rp. 300 million subsidiary three months," said spokesman Andi Samsan Nangro to reporters, Wednesday, September 30.

The Supreme Judge Review Board (PK) chaired by Sunarto and accompanied by Andi Samsan Nganro and Mohammad Askin as member judges, also imposed an additional sentence on Anas.
