The Main Problem Of Raiding Aeon Mall Jakarta Garden City
JAKARTA - The Aeon shopping center in the Jakarta Garden City (JGC) area, Cakung, East Jakarta, was attacked by the masses. They damaged several facilities belonging to the mall. This action was recorded and milled around on social media timelines. VOI summarizes the video.
Kapolsek Cakung Kompol Pandji Santoso said the angry crowd who raided the shopping center were local residents.
They went berserk because they thought the flood today, Tuesday, February 25, was the impact of the construction of the shopping center. Thus, residents from RW 6, 7, 9, 10 came to the mall's marketing office.
However, since there was not a single person from Aeon's side that could be found, they took their anger out by doing some damage.
"According to residents, the contours (during construction) were not right. This led to flooding. In fact, floods occur everywhere," said Pandji when contacted, Tuesday, February 25.
With different perceptions about the causes of the flood, the police intervened and helped hundreds of residents to meet representatives from Aeon's side.
Contacted separately, Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Yusri Yunus said, in the incident there was no looting action like the one milling about on social media. He said conditions at the current location were conducive. To keep a similar incident from happening again, a number of police personnel have been alerted.
"There was no looting. The current condition is safe and conducive," said Yusri.
Meanwhile, Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the East Jakarta Metro Police, AKBP Heri Purnomo, was reluctant to comment further when he was asked whether there would be legal action later because several residents had committed the damage as stipulated in Article 406 of the Criminal Code.
"Later (about the prosecution)," he said.
