Equal To Elon Musk & Anne Hidalgo As Transportation Heroes, Anies Baswedan: The Achievements Of All Parties
JAKARTA - Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan responded to his coronation as one of the heroes of transportation in 21Heroes2021 by the international organization Transformative Urban Mobility Initiative (TUMI).
Anies was crowned with 20 other people, including a number of big names such as the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla Production Architect, Elon Musk to the Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo.
Their name was chosen because of the successful transformation of urban mobility which has an impact on improving the quality of life for all citizens.
Responding to this, Anies viewed the transportation 'hero' label as the result of joint work with all levels of the DKI Provincial Government, as well as collaboration with various parties.
"This achievement is the result of collaboration with various parties, from the beginning we opened the widest possible opportunity for the public to be involved in planning the development of the transportation system," Anies said in his statement, Friday, February 5.
In his statement, TUMI assessed that Anies had carried out transportation development, including bus services and plans to build a large bicycle path up to 63 kilometers in Jakarta.
Anies is also considered to have succeeded in transforming a mass public transportation system that is comfortable and inclusive for all, one of which is the integration of Bus Rapid Transit which is implied into the JakLingko system.
Then, Anies integrated the bus stop with commuter stations and Integrated Highway Mode (MRT) as well as seeing opportunities for developing the launch of electric buses for operations.
"In the midst of the smog in the city, he tried the opportunity to launch an electric bus operational plan and renovation of a public transportation station that is directly connected to the commuter train station," wrote the TUMI statement.
In addition, Jakarta also won the 2020 Sustainable Transport Award (STA) from the Institute for Transportation & Development Policy (ITDP).
For information, 21Heroes2021 is an event to honor those who achieve transportation success in 2020, despite the challenges faced by the pandemic and lay the groundwork for more successful and sustainable mobility initiatives by 2021.
The individuals highlighted in this publication are a small, but powerful, group of many people who are actively contributing to making future-oriented mobility, safe, inclusive and sustainable.
