LPSK Digs Information From TGPF Intan Jaya On Pastor Jeremiah's Shooting Case, This Is The Reason!

JAKARTA - The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) met with the Intan Jaya Case Fact Finding Team (TGPF) to gather information on the shooting of Pastor Yeremia Zanambani in September 2020.

The meeting which took place in Jakarta was held after the LPSK decided to accept the request for witness protection in the shooting case of Pastor Jeremia.

"Information gathering is not only in Jakarta, but we will also seek input in Papua," said LPSK Deputy Chairman Maneger Nasution in a written statement reported by Antara, Friday, February 5.

The collection of information and input from parties who first went to the field, continued Nasution, is very necessary as an initial stage of the protection process that will be given to witnesses in the Intan Jaya case.

Thus, his party can get a more comprehensive picture of conditions in the field. "We continue to establish coordination and communication with the hope that the protection process will proceed as expected," he said.

At that meeting, LPSK met with the Head of TGPF Benny Mamoto. Benny, said Nasution, briefly described the results of his team's work in investigating the shooting of Pastor Yeremia in Intan Jaya.

Benny also provided some input for the protection process that will be carried out by LPSK.

Benny hopes that LPSK can provide maximum protection to those who know about the incident so that they can testify safely without intimidation at trial so that the case can be resolved.

Regarding the general situation and conditions at the location, Benny also suggested that LPSK coordinate with stakeholders in Papua given the escalation and unpredictable conditions on the ground.

On Tuesday, February 2, Nasution coordinated with one of the TGPF members who is also a member of the Law Commission for the Association of Churches in Indonesia (PGI) Johny Simanjuntak.

From Johny, the LPSK team also received a lot of input to strengthen the protection process that will be carried out. In fact, Johny said that PGI is committed to helping LPSK.

"LPSK must be able to ensure that the state has services for witnesses and victims in this case. PGI is ready to help LPSK if needed, especially in building the trust of the people there," he said.
