Jokowi Believes Technology Will Not Be Able To Beat Humans

BOGOR - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) asked the public not to be afraid or worried about technological disruption. Jokowi believes technology cannot beat humans.

Jokowi responded to the public's many concerns about technological disruption, ranging from the workforce that was replaced by machines, to digital consumer behavior.

President Jokowi asked the public not to be afraid or worried, because technological disruption is a challenge that cannot be avoided by anyone, humans only need to find solutions to these challenges.

"We also don't need to worry because technological disruptions also continue to come, and will come, every day the changes are so fast. We know the challenges ahead, we understand what difficulties we will face in the future, therefore we do this, the solution is like this," said Jokowi at the 60th Anniversary event of the Bogor Agricultural Institute, on Friday, September 15.

Jokowi also asked the public not to be allergic to technological changes. Jokowi explained that from his meetings with various friendly countries at the ASEAN Summit, G-7 meetings, and G-20 meetings, all countries expressed their fear of artificial intelligence.

Because this technological disruption is unavoidable and experienced by all countries in the world, Indonesia as a country needs to create regulations and rules of the game. People need to be prepared to anticipate the various possibilities that exist.

"Don't be afraid of smart machines, with AI, because yesterday at G-7, at G-20, the ASEAN Summit all talked about AI, very afraid that all countries will talk about AI, the regulations don't exist yet, the rules of the game don't exist yet. This means that we have to anticipate and prepare ourselves," said Jokowi.

At the end of his speech, Jokowi said he was sure that technology would not be able to beat humans. Because machines only have chips, but humans have heart and feelings.

"Technology will not be able to beat humans because machines only have chips, but humans have heart, have taste, machines have no power. I believe that God's creation will always be superior and more noble," concluded Jokowi.
