Jakarta Floods, Limited Electricity Supply
JAKARTA - After being hit by rain since the early hours of Tuesday, February 25 until this morning, the DKI Jakarta area and its surroundings experienced flooding of various heights and disrupted the electricity supply to various affected areas. This flood was even worse than the beginning of last year.
The official Twitter account of TMC Polda Metrojaya, @TMCPoldaMetrojaya noted that several areas such as Kedoya, West Jakarta, experienced floods with a height of 30-40 cm. Then Pondok Gede, which leads to Pangkalan Jati, was also inundated by floods.

In addition, floods as high as 50-60 cm also occurred beside Balai Kartini, Jalan Gatot Subroto, South Jakarta. Furthermore, the DI Pandjaitan road area, East Jakarta, was flooded with water up to 70cm high and could not be accessed by public transportation.
As a result of the flood, PLN stopped their electricity supply to a number of affected areas. General Affairs Manager for Communications at PLN UID (Distribution Main Unit) Jakarta Raya, Dita Artsana, said that hundreds of electrical substations were not operated to maintain security.
"A total of 326 electrical substations have not been operated to supply electrical energy to customers for a while. This is for the sake of mutual safety," said Dita, as quoted by VOI in his written statement, Tuesday, February 25.

The areas that have the potential to experience moderate to heavy rain are East Jakarta, Central Jakarta, South Jakarta and Bogor Regency and can expand to the surrounding areas.
