The Silent Work Of The Aceh Prosecutor's Office To Hunt 41 Criminals Who Fled To Malaysia
JAKARTA - The Aceh High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) is hunting 41 fugitives who have been included in the wanted list (DPO). They fled when they were executed and served their sentences.
That was the statement made by the Head of Aceh Prosecutor's Office, Muhammad Yusuf, as reported by Antara, Thursday, February 4. Their case has permanent legal force.
"Convicts who are fugitives have been chased for years. Even though we keep running, we will continue to look for them at any time," said Muhammad Yusuf in Banda Aceh.
Yusuf said the arrest of the fugitive convict was a priority for the Aceh Prosecutor's Office and ranks. For this reason, the Aceh Attorney General's Office and ranks have formed a special team to pursue these fugitives.
The special team, he said, was formed in early January 2021. The team was named the Fugitive Capture Team (Tabur). Since Tim Tabur was formed, five convicts were arrested and two surrendered.
"Even though I signed the Tabur Team's decision letter, I don't know who the members of this team are. They work secretly to find convicts who have not served their sentences," he said.
He said, a number of obstacles were experienced by officers when hunting for DPOs. For example, the existence of perpetrators who are no longer in Aceh or have fled abroad, Malaysia.
"We ask the public to inform them if they see and know the whereabouts of DPOs. We also coordinate with other relevant agencies to pursue these fugitives," said Yusuf.
