The Death Of Kopilot Wings Air And The News Of His Dismissal
JAKARTA - Having a job with high income is everyone's dream. Not infrequently, anything is done to get it. However, high-income professions have heavy demands and responsibilities as well.
For the few people who are unable to carry the workload, leaving the profession is an option. Or, the worst is depression and then suicide.
This motive is similar to the case of the death of the man with the initials NA (29). Allegedly because he was fired from his job as a copilot at Wings Air, he ended his life by hanging himself.
Monday night, 18 November, marked the beginning of the discovery of NA in a dependent state. His younger brother, Ciprianus, was the first to find out.
Before finding his brother with a neck entangled in a rope, Ciprianus repeatedly contacted NA by telephone. But, there was no answer from her brother. He also decided to go to an NA boarding house on Jalan Rawa Lele, Kalideres, West Jakarta.
Arriving at his brother's boarding house, Ciprianus immediately climbed the stairs to his brother's room on the 2nd floor. There, he found his brother's room locked. Several times he knocked on the doors and windows, the name of his brother was also kept shouting out. But, there was no answer from the room.
Forcibly opening the window was an option at that time. Gouging like a thief he had to do. After successfully entering, he was dumbfounded and screamed. Ciprianus saw that NA was caught in a rope tied to the door frame.
"When he saw his brother in such a condition, his younger brother immediately asked for help from the other residents of the boarding house," said Kapolsek Kalideres AKP Indra Maulana when confirmed, Thursday, November 21.
NA was immediately taken to the nearest hospital. However, the condition at that time did not allow NA to help, because she was confirmed dead.
NA committed suicide after there was a letter of dismissal from his office. The letter was not in his boarding house, but at his parents' house in Solo. The letter was sent according to the address stated on the NA resident identity card.
"He sent it to his parents' house in Solo. So it was not at the TKP," said Indra.
Although the motive for the suicide has been strengthened by the existence of the letter, the police are reluctant to immediately conclude this. So, it is said that the case will still be explored. "Still in the process of investigation and deepening," said Indra.
Wings Air Responds
Wings Air confirmed the correctness of NA's work termination. However, they did not explain the reasons for the termination. What is explained in Wings Air's statement regarding this case is that all Lion Air Group employees must work in accordance with the application of work rules, discipline, and implementation of applicable standard operating procedures.
"This is in accordance with the provisions in ensuring flight safety and security or safety first," said Corporate Communications Strategic of Wings Air, Danang Mandala Prihantoro in a written statement.
In addition, Wings Air has also implemented a coaching program for all employees, including flight crew. The goal is to increase knowledge, skills, integrity and good character as an effort to increase high performance.
The statement also stated that legal action measures would be taken if Lion Air Group employees did not meet the expected standards.
"If in the coaching phase, the cockpit employees or crew do not meet the qualifications or the expected results, the company will provide action and decisions according to the rules," said Danang.
