Closing The 43rd ASEAN Summit, President Jokowi: Our Task Is Not Over
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) officially closed the 43rd ASEAN Summit (KTT).
With this closure, Indonesia's chairmanship in ASEAN officially ended.
"Alhamdulillah, the 43rd ASEAN Summit and other summits have been implemented well and smoothly and even in the midst of difficult situations," he said at JCC, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, September 7.
On this occasion, Jokowi expressed his high appreciation to all leaders and invitees who were present in the entire series of ASEAN's 43rd Summit events.
Furthermore, Jokowi revealed that the 43rd ASEAN Summit had produced 90 outcomes and agreements with partners.
"Indonesia's chairman produces many things, as an effort to maintain peace, maintain stability and maintain regional prosperity," he said.
Jokowi also emphasized that ASEAN's assertiveness in building a peaceful and stable region has not been completed. According to him, ASEAN will face various dynamics and complexity of global challenges.
"We must work hand in hand to navigate tantagan into an opportunity to navigate rivalry into collaboration, navigate exclusivity into inclusiveness and navigate differences into unity. We must become captains on our own ship," he explained.

Therefore, Jokowi also invited leaders of ASEAN member countries and partners to strengthen the Indo-Pacific area as a theater of peace and inclusiveness.
"This is the essence that the chairmanship of Indonesia has built to make ASEAN matters the epicenter of growth, but our task has not yet been completed. Big ASEAN work cannot be completed in just one chairman, we will continue to face various dynamics and complexity of global challenges," he said.
