DKI JAKARTA DPRD Members Remind Anies Needs Breakthrough, Support Jakarta Lockdown Weekend
JAKARTA A member of the DKI Jakarta Regional House Of Representatives (DPRD) from the PAN Faction, Lukmanul Hakim, assessed that handling COVID-19 in the capital requires a breakthrough. One of them is by doing a regional quarantine at the weekend.
"Please pay attention, last Thursday (3/1) there were 3,567 new positive cases in DKI so that the total is more than 280 thousand cases. It will not be resolved if this is the case. There must be a breakthrough", said Lukmanul Hakim, quoted by Antara, Thursday, February 4th.
A member of Commission A DPRD DKI said weekend quarantine was needed because the Enforcement of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) was not effective.
If later the quarantine or weekend lockdown is enforced, Lukmanul Hakim asks for firmer law enforcement.
"The point must be firm, during Saturday-Sunday, residents are not allowed to leave the house except for urgent matters. This is important because this weekend is the period with the highest mobility of its citizens", said Lukmanul Hakim.
However, Lukmanul Hakim said that if the weekend lockdown is carried out, the strict PPKM or PSBB policies in Jakarta must be continued. So, both of them can complement each other and achieve the desired goals.
"The PSBB must still exist. So on working days the community is limited by the PSBB, Saturday-Sunday and it is further tightened with a weekend lockdown", Lukman added.
Meanwhile, Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria said that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will study this option, although it is still waiting for a decision and coordinating with the central government.
“The Saturday-Sunday lockdown was a suggestion from DPR member Saleh Daulay. He said that this government needs to take a different policy. If the lockdown for two weeks and one month is tough, he suggested locking it on weekends or Saturday-Sunday and it is enforced in Turkey and is quite good”, said DKI Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria to reporters, Wednesday, February 3.
Riza emphasized that this proposal was accommodated properly. According to him, the duty of DKI Pemprov is to review proposals.
"I think as a suggestion from DPR members or community members, anyone can give input. Of course, we will give input from anyone from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to conduct analysis and evaluation studies", he said.
