South Sumatra Musi Banyuasin Police Task Force Arrests Land Burner

PALEMBANG - The Banyuasin Police forest and land fire mitigation Task Force, South Sumatra, arrested the hands of the community who deliberately burned the land.

"The KRYD team mitigating forest and land fires (karhutla) arrested a suspect, Saut Silaban (55), a farmer's job in Medak Bayunglincir Village, Musi Banyuasin (Muba)," said Head of Public Relations of the South Sumatra Police Kombes Supriadi in Palembang as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, September 6.

He explained that the arrest of the perpetrators of forest and land fires began when Kasat Sabhara received information from the public about the burning of a resident's garden in Hamlet V Medak.

The information from the community was immediately followed up by going down to the location with a number of members to check and it was proven that the suspect deliberately caught a fire on agricultural land.

After the security measures were taken, the Bayung Agile Police, Muba Police, together with the local community extinguished the fire at the land fire scene.

The suspect's actions are environmental crimes because land burning in the dry season can cause smog/air pollution that can cause disturbances in various activities and public health.

As a precaution so that no more people do land burning on purpose every dry season, his party continues to intensively socialize the notification of the prohibition of burning to clear land and clean up crops.

In addition to law enforcement actions, the socialization activity is expected to increase public awareness to abandon the bad habit of burning to open agricultural/planting land and clean land after harvest.
