New Brand From China Avatr Prepares To Enter European Market With Its Latest Model
JAKARTA - One of the cars we have been waiting for at the IAA Mobility Munich 2023 exhibition is the presence of a new brand from China, Avatr, which is a joint venture between car manufacturer Changan and smartphone giant Huawei.
Avatr was founded in 2018 and its first model, 11 is an electric car crossover that debuted in China in 2022.
At an exhibition currently underway in Germany, Avatr was carrying a recently leaked 12 sedan through a patent in China.
This elegant four-door sedan has a sedan-like look with a hatchback back and is equipped with Halo Display on the engine hood, which is a black LED panel that allows cars to communicate with people outside the vehicle.
With a length of 5,020 millimeters, a width of 1,999 mm, and a height of 1,460 mm, Avatr 12 has a wheelbase of 3,030 mm and will be available in two electric power options, both of which use a lithium-ion ternary cell-to-pack battery pack from the world's largest EV battery manufacturer CATL.
The variant with a rear wheel drive is run by an electric motor 230 kW (313 dk), while the version with the driving of all wheels is equipped with a dual setup of Huawei motorcycles which produces 425 kW (578 dk). Both models use 94.5 kWh batteries which allow for a driving range of between 650 and 700 kilometers.
This four-door hatchback coupe does not have a rear glass and is equipped with a digital video camera that provides a live rear view of the car.
On the interior, Avatr features an extended dashboard with floating elements called spacecraft-like with a wide wing connecting the front door. There is a wide band screen that crosses the dashboard width and acts as a "digital window," while the central touch screen is where all apps and settings are located.
