'Shaken' With Alcohol Until Drunk, A Man In Papua Sprints His Car And Falls Freely Into The Pier

JAKARTA - A man named Matan Rumsarwir (45) died after dumping the car he was driving into the Biak Mina Jaya (BMJ) Pier, Tuesday, February 2 yesterday. This case is currently being investigated by the Biak Numfor Police, Papua.

Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Kombes Ahmad Kamal, confirmed this. Investigators are still gathering information from eye witnesses.

"It is true that there have been reports of accidents where a car went into the sea in Biak, killing the driver," said Ahmad Kamal as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, February 3.

From the reports received, it was found that the victim was under the influence of liquor (Miras) that he and his friends upright in the dock area. Witness Alfaro Inggobeni Morin (50), a colleague of the victim, confessed to being with the victim since 15.00 WIT after participating in the activity in Bosnik.

Then with the victim headed to Biak and bought alcohol and continued to consume it at the BMJ Pier.

The witness reprimanded the victim for taking off his clothes while consuming alcohol. However, because he was very drunk, the witness did not know what happened next.

Another witness named David Manurung (30) explained that at around 19:40 WIT, he saw an Avanza car with police number PA 1648 C from north to south at high speed and entered the sea.

"Seeing the incident, witness David reported the incident to the SAR and local police," said Ahmad Kamal.

The joint team from SAR, Polri and the community conducted a search and found the victim's body at around 20:35 WIT. The victim was brought to Biak Hospital for an external autopsy.

Kamal stated that the autopsy results included no trauma or impact injuries on the victim's body, and he died from drowning in the sea.

"The victim's body has been handed over to his family for burial," said Kamal.
