Forming A State Administration Council, Myanmar's Military Dismissed Attorney General And Head Of The Central Bank

JAKARTA - The Myanmar military regime forms an official national government body to replace the government overthrown in a coup on February 1. It is called the Council for State Administration (SAC).

Consisting of 11 people, this body is dominated by military officials and is headed directly by the Myanmar military leader, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing. His deputy is the Deputy Military Commander and Senior Deputy General Soe Win.

Next there is Lieutenant General Aung Linn Dway as secretary and Lieutenant General Ye Win Oo as joint secretary. Meanwhile, General Mya Tun Oo, Admiral Tin Aung San, General Maung Maung Kyaw and Lieutenant General Moe Myint Tun were members.

The other three members of this body are civil society. Two of them came from parties opposite the National League for Democracy (NLD) Party which was ousted by power. Namely the Chairman of the New National Democratic Party U Thein Nyunt and the Chairman of the National Democratic Forces U Khin Maung Swe.

The third is the former leader of the Karen National Unity, Padoh Mahn Nyein Maung, who failed to run for the Lower House seat representing the Pantanaw Municipality of Ayeyarwady Region for the Karen People's Party in the last November 8 2020 election.

U Thein Nyunt and U Khin Maung Swe are former members of the NLD who broke away from the party to take part in the 2010 military-organized elections and served as members of Parliament until 2015.

The council has also appointed chairmen of the State and Regional Administration Councils, a position equivalent to chief minister, for Myanmar's 12 states and territories. As well as the chairperson of the Independent Administration Council for the six self-managed zones in the country, namely the Naga in Sagaing Region and the Danu, Pa-O, Palaung, Kokang and Wa in Shan State.

In a series of appointments and dismissals, the military-led SAC has also replaced a number of top officials in Myanmar.

Attorney General U Tun Tun Oo was replaced by Daw Thida Oo. Then the Chairman of the Central Bank of Myanmar U Kyaw Kyaw Maung was replaced by U Than Nyane. As well as Chairman of the Board Dr. Naypyitaw Myo Aung was replaced by Dr. Maung Maung Naing.
