President Jokowi Ensures Appointment of Replacement for Governor Ganjar is in Accordance to the Mechanism

SEMARANG - President Joko Widodo confirmed that the appointment of the acting governor (pj) of Central Java, to replace Ganjar Pranowo, whose term of office ends on September 5, is in accordance with the applicable mechanism.

"Not yet, (name) hasn't entered my desk. Later through the TPA mechanism (final assessment team)," said Jokowi after a working visit to the Central Java State Vocational School, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 30.

According to Jokowi, a decision on the name of the acting governor of Central Java will be taken this week.

"At the latest this week, it may have entered my desk for a decision, so if asked who, I don't know," Jokowi replied accompanied by Ganjar Pranowo.

Previously, the Regional Representative Council (DPRD) of Central Java Province had proposed three names as acting governors of Central Java. The three names are Head of the National Family Planning Coordinating Agency (BKKBN) Hasto Wardoyo, Head of the Attorney General's Training Agency Tony Tribagus Spontana, and Central Java Regional Secretary Sumarno.

The names of the three candidates were the result of a joint meeting of all leaders and chairmen of the Central Java DPRD faction based on their capability to continue the Ganjar Pranowo program in Central Java.

Furthermore, the three names will be followed up and considered by President Joko Widodo to obtain approval to become the acting governor of Central Java.

The appointment of the acting governor was based on Minister of Home Affairs Regulation Number 4 of 2023 concerning Acting Governors, Acting Regents and Acting Mayors.

In Article 2 of the Permendagri it is explained that to fill the vacant governor and deputy governor positions, the government appoints acting governors to lead the administration of the region until the definitive inauguration of the governor and/or deputy governor.
