Fire 40 Hectares Of Forests And Lands In East Flores Successfully Extinguished

The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of East Nusa Tenggara Province said the joint team had succeeded in extinguishing forest and land fires reaching 40 hectares in Nujulen Village, Ile Bura District, East Flores Regency."The disaster management team in East Flores Regency managed to extinguish forest and land fires in Nu rublee Village last Saturday night," said Head of the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Ambrosius Kodo in Kupang, Antara, Sunday, August 27.Forest and land fires (karhutla) in Nukolen Village, Ile Bura District, East Flores Regency have occurred since Friday at around 10:00 WITA."The fire started with the actions of local residents who burned dried grass and shrubs as an effort to clean land," he said.According to him, the fire spread quickly because at the time of the incident the winds were quite strong in the area."The joint team consisting of BPBD, TNI, Polri, and the East Flores Regency Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) immediately moved quickly to the location of the fire to try to extinguish the fire," he said.Based on a report from the Head of Emergency and Logistics of BPBD, East Flores Regency, Pusdalops-PB BPBD NTT Province on Saturday (26/8) at 18.42 WITA, the area of the forest and burned land reached 40 hectares."We hope that the public will be more aware of fires during the dry season," he said.
He appealed to the people in NTT not to clear land by burning because of the risk of forest and land fires such as what happened in East Flores Regency."Moreover, the potential for strong winds that can trigger forest and land fires is increasingly widespread," said Ambrosius Kodo.
