Prevent Buildup At The End Of The Week, Bintan-Batam Sea Crossing Plus
KEPRI - Tanjung Uban (Bintan)-Batam roro ship fleet has been added. This effort was made to anticipate the density of passenger flow, especially on weekends.
"The addition of the crossing schedule has been in effect since August 18, 2023," said Head of the Riau Islands Province Transportation Service (Dishub), Junaidi in Tanjungpinang, Riau Islands, Saturday, August 27, confiscated by Antara.
Junaidi said the decision was based on a joint study involving the Regional Transportation Management Center (BPTD) and PT Angkutan Sungai Danau and Pemberangan (ASDP) Indonesia Ferry (Persero).
Junaidi said, according to ASDP's request at Tanjung Uban Port, the operational schedule for the roro ship, which initially operated from 07.00 WIB to 18.00 WIB, was increased to 20.00 WIB.
Even if it is still crowded, he continued, then the operational schedule will be added again until 22.00 WIB.
The temporary addition of the operational schedule is enforced every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
"The potential density of roro passengers does occur before and at the weekend," said Junaidi.

Despite the addition of operating hours, Junaidi continued, ASDP Tanjung Uban has not yet added a roro ship to serve the crossing from Tanjung Uban-Batam.
So far, there are still four roro ships on the Tanjung Uban-Batam route, with a total of 14 trips. "For the policy of adding ships, that is ASDP's authority," said Junaidi.
