Heru Budi Ready To Meet The Regional Head Of Pemangga City To Discuss Odd Even 24 Hours
JAKARTA - Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono is ready to meet a number of regional heads in the buffer areas of Jakarta, namely Bekasi, Depok and Tangerang and Bogor to discuss the odd-even scheme for 24 hours.
"We will discuss it next week," said Heru after attending the 20th Anniversary of the Tzu Chi Cengkareng Flats (Rusun), West Jakarta, as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, August 26.
The 24-hour odd-even proposal still needs to be studied with various considerations. One of them is related to considering the number of cars owned by each resident.
"We think about the impact. Not all of them have two or three odd and even-numbered vehicles. We will think about that later," said Heru.
Chairman of Commission D of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Ida Maheasy, has proposed that the odd-even system (gage) in Jakarta be implemented 24 hours or a full day to maintain air quality in Jakarta and reduce congestion.
Heru assessed that the legislator's proposal was a good idea. "Yes, it's a good idea (implementation 24 hours odd-even)," said Heru after reviewing the Jakarta Integrated Highway, Bogor, Depok, Bekasi (LRT Jabodebek), Friday (25/8).
Public policy observer from Trisakti University Trubus Rahadiansyah assesses that the 24-hour odd-even implementation is not effective in suppressing air pollution in DKI Jakarta.
"In my opinion, it is not effective. We have not been able to limit vehicles to suppress pollution," Trubus said when contacted in Jakarta, Saturday.
According to Trubus, the 24-hour odd-even application could actually trigger the number of vehicles in the capital city because people who have excess money will choose to buy more vehicles.
