Deputy Chairperson Of The KPK Ensures That The Case Of Extortion Of The Red And White Detention Center Is Still Being Investigated

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is still investigating allegations of illegal levies (extortion) at the Red and White building branch of the Detention Center (Rutan). Development is still ongoing.

"It's under investigation. It's been exposed several times," said KPK Deputy Chair Nurul Ghufron to reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Thursday, August 24.

"In the process, continued Ghufron, investigators are also looking for parties suspected of being involved. We are still developing," he said.

"Later, when it is clear, it involves anyone, the progress will be conveyed," continued Ghufron.

Previously, the KPK revealed that 70 people had been examined in the case of illegal levies at the KPK Rutan, Red and White Building Branch. Their information is needed to make clear of the case.

The alleged extortion was revealed by the KPK Supervisory Board to conduct an inspection at the KPK Detention Center. It was stated that the value of the quotes collected reached Rp. 4 billion and was carried out from December 2021-March 2022.

After extortion, the KPK also revealed allegations of corruption in official travel money by its employees. The value reached Rp550 million and was revealed after the boss and team of employees reported to the KPK Inspectorate.
