PLN Gandeng TANESCO Develops Electricity Business To Africa
PT PLN (Persero) is exploring cooperation with the State-Owned Enterprise (BUMN) from Africa, Tanzania Electricity Supply Co. Ltd. (TANESCO).
During a visit to Africa on August 20-24, 2023, PLN will cooperate with electricity companies that are also to develop a reliable and sustainable electricity business.
PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo explained, TANESCO has seen PLN's actions so far in the electricity business and become a global electricity company.
Reflecting on PLN's actions, TANOSCO wants to develop the same business in Africa.
"We will work together in developing the electricity sector ecosystem in Tanzania. TANESCO also sees the business transformation that PLN is carrying out and the transformation is intended to be adapted by them in Tanzania. Moreover, in the future the electricity challenges from clean energy must be solved together. For this reason, we are very open to this collaboration," Darmawan said in a statement to the media, Tuesday, August 22.
Darmawan explained that TANESCO had visited Indonesia and the Minister of Energy for Tanzania, January Makamba and Management of Tanesco immediately visited the PLN office on February 10, 2023.

At a series of meetings between Indonesian President Joko Widodo in Africa, PLN and TANESCO will conduct cooperation agreements in the fields of digital transformation, business development, as well as capacity building of human resources.
"This visit is also a form of PLN's business expansion (for the core business of electricity and beyond kWh) to Africa, especially Tanzania, where the market potential in Africa is quite large," added Darmawan.
In addition to developing business, this meeting also strengthens bilateral relations between Indonesia and Tanzania.
