As A Result Of Landslides, Road Access From Malang To Kediri Is Totally Closed

JAKARTA - The road access from Malang Regency to Kediri is completely closed due to landslides in Jombok Village, Malang Regency, East Java. (East Java).

This incident was the result of heavy rain in the Ngantang Subdistrict, Malang Regency from 14.00-17.00 WIB and caused a landslide of 25 meters high and 10 meters wide cliffs.

"Landslide incident in Jombok Krajan Hamlet, RT 11, Djombok Village, Ngantang District. Malang-Kediri access is completely closed," said Secretary of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Malang Regency, Bagyo Setiono when contacted by Antara, Tuesday, February 2.

The cliff, continued Bagyo, suffered a landslide at around 17.50 WIB. "The volume of material increases and closes the Malang-Kediri provincial road," said Bagyo.

Bagyo added that there were approximately 30 personnel deployed to handle the landslide material. Currently, BPBD Malang Regency together with all personnel are waiting for heavy equipment to clean the landslide material.

The personnel involved in handling the landslides in Jombok Krajan Hamlet, among them came from PMI Malang Regency, personnel from Poslap Ngantang, village officials, including local residents.

According to Bagyo, currently the handling of landslides has been temporarily halted due to the risk of further landslides. People who will pass are encouraged to make a U-turn, or rest in a safe place. "Handling is stopped because there is a risk of further landslides," he explained.

There were no casualties. Meanwhile, the flow of vehicle traffic was diverted so as not to pass through the landslide point.
