This Week, The Number Of Deaths Due To COVID-19 Has Risen Sharply To 25.3 Percent
JAKARTA - Spokesperson for the Task Force (Task Force) Handling COVID-19 Wiku Adisasmito explained that the number of deaths due to COVID-19 in the country increased dramatically to 25.3 percent per Sunday, January 31.
Whereas in the previous week, this mortality rate had decreased by three percent.
"It can be said that the development this week is bad after experiencing a decline of three percent yesterday. This week, the death rate has risen sharply again by 25.3 percent from last week and this should be our common concern," Wiku said in a press conference broadcast on account. He then explained that the death rate due to COVID-19 was contributed by West Java Province. Furthermore, the increase in this figure was contributed by the Provinces of Central Java, North Sulawesi, DKI Jakarta and North Kalimantan.
With this condition, Wiku then emphasized all parties to be serious and strive to continue to reduce this death rate. Moreover, based on the data they have, 47.1 percent of the deaths due to COVID-19 came from people with the elderly group (elderly).
"The death rate is dominated by people over 59 years of age as much as 47.1 percent," he said.
According to him, this age is vulnerable because they do not have a strong immune system and many elderly people have congenital or comorbid diseases. So, this worsened their condition when they contracted COVID-19.
So, he reminded the productive age group to be careful of those who are vulnerable.
"For the productive age group, after traveling outside the house, they are requested to immediately clean themselves, change clothes and disinfect the items used," he said.
"If you are feeling unwell or symptoms of Covid-19, immediately consult the nearest health center. Do not make contact with family members who are elderly or vulnerable," he added.
Previously reported, the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) released the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 today. A total of 71,702 specimens were examined today. As a result, there were 10,379 new positive cases of COVID-19.
"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 1,099,687 people," the Ministry of Health was quoted as saying, Tuesday, February 2.
Today's recovered cases have increased by 12,848 cases, so that a total of 896,530 people recovered. Then, the confirmed positive cases who died increased by 304 people and a total of 30,581 people.
In addition, the number of specimens examined reached 9,358,604. In detail, a total of 9,217,289 specimens were examined using real time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and 141,315 using a molecular rapid test (TCM).
"The cumulative positive results per number of people examined or a positivity rate of 17.6 percent," he wrote.
For the number of people suspected of having contracted COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspected cases, it was recorded at 75,533 people. Currently, 510 districts / cities from 34 provinces have cases of COVID-19.
